In preparation for the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, the DO Foundation led a pre-sensitization visit to Hansal International School, bringing together key voices committed to the safety, empowerment, and advancement of the girl child.
The event featured impactful presentations from Dr. Barr. Dise Ogbise Goddy Harry, Founder of DO Foundation; Her Excellency Iyoro Esther Seibarugu, Founder of Lady Mary Woman and Girl Child Empowerment Initiative; Miss Teresa Briseimo, Founder of Girls in Tech Initiative Bayelsa; Mrs. Helen Suokiri, Association of Women Against Gender-Based Violence (Bayelsa Chapter); and Barr. Tracy Kabowei, Chairperson of Edu Eduere Girls Support Organization (Bayelsa Chapter).
During her session, Miss Teresa Briseimo educated female students on the vast opportunities within the tech space, encouraging them to embrace digital skills such as graphic design, photo editing, video creation, and the use of AI tools. She emphasized that technology is not only a career path but also a tool to make life easier, enhance creativity, and prepare them for a brighter future. She also highlighted how students can use their school breaks productively by learning practical tech skills.

The sensitization also addressed critical issues of gender-based violence. Students were educated on the different forms of violence; emotional, physical, and mental, and reminded of their rights under the law. A powerful slogan, “Scream, Shout, and Report,” was introduced, encouraging girls to speak up and seek help whenever they face abuse.
As part of the collaboration, partners announced upcoming initiatives to be unveiled during the International Day of the Girl Child celebration, including the Farm-to-Fame Project, the Girls in Tech Project, and a Party for Girls Living with Special Needs.
This joint effort reinforced the importance of empowering girls with knowledge, technology, and safety awareness so they can thrive in today’s world. The students left inspired, aware of their rights, and motivated to take advantage of opportunities in technology while standing firm against gender-based violence.
