Girls in Tech Initiatives Bayelsa, a non-governmental organisation committed to empowering the girl child through technology, has launched a sensitisation campaign tagged “Tech N Tea”, aimed at encouraging female participation in technology, building digital skills, and creating sustainable income streams.
The campaign was officially unveiled during the Tech N Tea interactive training and networking session held in Yenagoa, which brought together young girls, ladies, and tech enthusiasts for hands-on learning and mentorship.
Speaking at the event, the Founder of Girls in Tech Initiatives Bayelsa, Miss Teresa Briseimo, stated that involvement in technology does not require advanced proficiency in mathematics, but rather curiosity, creativity, branding, proper packaging, and the power of the mind.
Miss Briseimo, who is also a web designer and tech expert, explained that the Tech N Tea initiative was created to introduce and educate young girls and women about opportunities in technology, while dispelling the notion that tech is a male-dominated field.
“Tech is not just for boys; it is for everybody, regardless of gender,” she said.
She further revealed that the organisation plans to take the campaign to secondary schools across Bayelsa State, delivering a clear and practical message that technology is simply a tool that helps individuals work smarter, earn better, and remain relevant in a fast-moving world.

During the session, Miss Briseimo also addressed common myths surrounding technology and artificial intelligence, while sharing insights from her areas of specialisation including web design, graphics, and UI/UX.
“From building digital skills to creating new income streams, tech is the engine that can push you far ahead in 2026 and beyond,” she added.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Ekemini Udo, a Business Development and Sales Strategist and Special Adviser to the Group President of Azikel Group, encouraged participants to embrace technology while upholding principles of loyalty, dedication, and exceptional service delivery. He urged them to join supportive tech communities and pursue lives of excellence.
The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Youths, Hon. Alfred Kemepadei, advised participants to actively seek mentors and embrace continuous guidance and training as they build their careers in technology.

In her remarks, the Founder of the Do Foundation and President of the National Association of Women Against Gender-Based Violence, Dr. Dise Ogbise Goddy Harry, commended the organisers of the event and urged participants to remain focused on girl-child involvement in tech, noting that it would enhance capacity building and promote social and economic upliftment.
The event also featured sessions from other tech experts, including Mrs. Anita Ngeri, a Robotics Engineer, who spoke on the power of robotics and highlighted how young girls from Bayelsa State are excelling and representing the state nationally and globally. Ms. Jennifer Gbonhinbor trained participants on video editing and encouraged diversification and tech adoption across various fields of interest, while Ms. Apina Felix shared insights on YouTube automation and digital storytelling.
The Tech N Tea event recorded overwhelming success, with positive feedback and testimonies pouring in even before its conclusion, and several participants already calling for a Tech N Tea 2.0.
