History

Girls In Tech Initiative Bayelsa is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that was birthed in 2019 as a means of giving back to the society and was registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), registration number 162787 on the 5th of August, 2021. We noticed the rather obvious absence of the girl/female gender in the technology space and activities in the state, knowing that technology is not just every industry, but it is the ‘very’ industry and platform for all businesses and works of life.

To change this narrative, Girls In Tech Initiative Bayelsa was founded by a group of young female Tech enthusiasts, to create a generation of digitally inclined young women through development of technological knowledge, to drive its mission of creating not just entrepreneurs but digital-ready young women in this digital age.

The need for development of the girl-child in tech cannot be overemphasized. Bayelsa State in general, our input in tech for the girl- child is almost 0.05% therefore the need for a narrative change in the state. A girl developed in tech is not just in the tech sector but in every other area of her life; mentally, emotionally, financially, intellectually, and much more.
